FAQS - Timeline & Plans
Q: Will the staff move with you?
A: Yes, our amazing staff will be moving with us.
Q: How do you anticipate the moves happening?
A: The loose plan is to complete works at the new site, move the Prep pupils there, then remove the pods and decorate at King Henry's Walk before moving Early Years over from Elmore Street. The timeline will be shared shortly.
Q: Will you keep the minibus?
A: Yes, the minibus is critical as it allows us to continue with external sports fixtures, swimming lessons, educational trips and school visits to local amenities.
Q: Will the school be merging with another school group?
A: No, we intend to retain our independence and grow the charity ourselves with the invaluable help and expertise of the Council of Management.
Q: How will you keep parents and staff informed?
A: Updates will be provided in newsletters and on the website.
Q: Are we keeping Elmore Street?
A: No, Elmore Street has been sold to a faith-based charity to be used for non-educational purposes.
We’re thrilled to be moving the Prep school to a site with significantly enhanced facilities which will mean that KHW can become a specialised Early Years site. Our departure date from Elmore Street is relatively flexible, allowing us to completely finish works at King Henry's Walk and the new site before we move the school across.
Q: When are you moving?
A: Although we would like to have both sites ready for the start of Spring Term 2027, our departure date from Elmore Street is flexible.
We will ensure that teaching and learning will not be disrupted by any building works. Having undergone several building and renovation projects in recent years we have confidence in our contractors and the timeframes that they set.
Q: Will the Early Years pupils have access to the Prep building facilities?
A: The Prep Site is to be used by the Early Years as often as needed. The proximity allows us to integrate pupils more easily and there is plenty of space. The main playground is on the opposite side of the site to the classrooms, so outdoor spaces can be used without disrupting teaching. The upstairs hall has sound insulation, and activities will not interrupt teaching.
Q: What will you do with all the “spare” classrooms?
A: We haven’t decided how to allocate these yet but look forward to having more space for specialist subjects, interventions and meetings.
Q: Can we see the new site?
A: In the coming months we will invite parents to visit the new site. Whilst it is entirely safe, we need to have all the relevant certifications (fire, emergency lighting etc), as well as risk assessments in place before pupils, parents and staff can visit it.
Q: Does this mean you’ll be providing lunch for all children?
A: The new site will have a kitchen and once we have moved in and established a routine, we will then look into providing hot lunches for pupils, hopefully to include the Early Years. We anticipate this may happen for the 27/28 school year and we will send out a survey ahead of making any decisions.
