FAQs - Admissions & School Day

Q: Will fees rise?

A: We review fees every year in line with inflation and benchmark against our competitors. We have already set fees for 2026/27 and these will not be changed.

Q: Will the move impact Year 6 pupils 11+ prep?

A: No, decoration and moving will happen outside of learning time. Whilst the location of their classroom may change, there will be no change to their programme of study.

Q: Will you offer more bursaries to local pupils?

A: Where we have smaller classes, we are delighted to offer funded spaces to local pupils who might not otherwise be able to access an independent education. We use an independent company to do the means testing and if you hear of anyone who might be interested, please send them to Nicolette in admissions who can talk them through the process.

Q: Will Early Years extend to younger pupils?

At this stage we will continue to take pupils from 2 years of age.

Q: Will there be a change in the school day/timetable?

A: We expect school start and finish times to remain the same but we will re-evaluate once we are in the new sites.

Q: Will you increase class sizes?

A: Our target class size is 20 pupils per class. However, our maximum would be 24 for Prep and 28 for Early Years. Where needed, we would add more staff to ensure the ratio of staff to pupils is generous and allows us to deliver our exciting curriculum.

Q: Will the move affect after school clubs?

A: We will have even more space to offer clubs and hope the provision can be expanded even further. We may consider consolidating breakfast, after school drop in and extended care clubs onto one site, but no decision has been made about that yet.

Q: What support will there be for anxious children and their parents?

A: We’ll ensure parents can visit the new site and KHW. Our Early Years pupils already visit KHW regularly and are familiar with the building and staff. We expect our pupils will be as excited as we are.

Parents are always welcome to contact Ellie and Taiba directly to talk through concerns.

Q: What does the Dalston community think about having a Private Prep School?

A: We are seeing more pupils coming to us from Dalston and surrounding areas, slightly further afield, and we hope the local community will be delighted the building is being used. We will continue to support local charities and provide bursaries to local children.

Q: Elmore Street is perfect for us – the extra travel is going to add time to our drop off and pick ups.

A: We’re aware the new sites will be slightly further away for some families, but the benefits for pupils are significant and will secure the future of the school.

Q: It’s not possible for Early Years families to travel that far – there isn’t enough flexibility in mornings/afternoons routines

A: The Senior Leadership Team will talk personally with all EY parents.  We believe that the new sites will benefit children greatly and hope that our wraparound provision (mornings and afternoons) will give parents the flexibility to accommodate a slightly increased journey time.
